Please choose four topics each

In the presentation, you will have 90 seconds to cover your topic. If you go over, a bell will ring and you will stop talking immediately. Plan your number of slides accordingly.

Timing for the next presentation will begin immediately when the bell rings, not when the next person starts talking. So move fast on those transitions on stage.

DEADLINES

Aug. 31 -- all topics chosen

Sept. 11 -- PowerPoint slides and blurbs submitted.

Changes:

Sheryll Hampton has had to drop out. We should still have plenty of topics with 4 each, but I will reassess the 80 seconds vs 90 seconds thing.

She had suggested the following. Please feel free to pick up any of these for your own list if you would like:

SnapChat - the "new" Instagram

visual.ly - infographic creator

Topics:

Please check the list at the very bottom of the page for topics that have been used in prior years. Please feel free to add topics by your name -- these are not carved in stone yet, so you have time to change them up if you want.

Potential topic ideas:

Anything on the Tech Ideas and related pages that we haven't done already (see list of used ones below)

Graphics Tools for Facebook Pages

The Northeast Kansas Library System offered a 30 tips/tricks/tools in 30 minutes session at their annual technology learning day earlier this year. The tools from that session are posted here: http://www.nekls.org/30-tipstrickstools-30-minutes-tech-innovation-day/

Mentionmapp

Internet of Things

Mobile payments

Moscase (I suppose if it gets funded and moves forward, but kind of cool)

Buffer - schedule your Tweets

Other tech to use social media more effectively?

3D Printed Prosthetics - We did makerspaces, but I'm not finding 3D printing on the list of past topics. Some have been printed at local libraries.

Taplet -- pull the best photos from your videos

Fitbit and other fitness wearables -- employee wellness?

Providing your slides: deadline TBD

Create PowerPoint slides for each of your topics. Use the blank PowerPoint slide format only -- no fancy designs.

We can not do any links, videos or anything that requires internet access due to time constraints.

Send to Susan Mark.

How it will go: presentation

You will have 90 seconds to speak on each of your topics -- plan slides accordingly

At 90 seconds, the bell rings and you stop -- mid-word, even. Do not try to finish a thought or a sentence

Try to use the full 90 seconds. The audience loves it when we get dinged.

Please include, before your 90 seconds are up, something about how a library might use this topic.*

*With the caveat that the occasional "just for fun" technology is OK. The audience loved the USB charger campstove a few years back

If you need a timer as you're rehearsing your presentation, I found this one was good
